The International Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Foundation (IWSH) recently unveiled upgraded facilities at the ADRA Community Care Centre in Logan Central, delivered through a multi-organisation partnership strengthening frontline community services and providing hands-on skills development for young plumbers.

The upgraded facilities were unveiled by the Treasurer and Member for Rankin, the Hon. Dr Jim Chalmers MP, who joined community members, partners and local representatives to mark the completion of the project.

The renovations were delivered by the International Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Foundation (IWSH) in partnership with the Indigenous Plumbing and Sanitation Foundation (IPSF), ADRA, the Reece Foundation, the Plumbing Industry Climate Action Centre (PICAC) and WorldSkills Australia. The project also received strategic and industry support from the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials – Oceania (IAPMO Oceania), the Master Plumbers’ Association of Queensland (MPAQ) and the Plumbers and Pipe Trades Employees Union Queensland (PPTEU Queensland).

Plumbing apprentices from the PICAC Beenleigh campus carried out much of the hands-on work, gaining real-world experience while contributing directly to their local community. WorldSkills Australia supported the project by repurposing materials from the 2025 National Championships, reflecting a shared focus on sustainability.

ADRA is there for people in Logan when they need help the most, and these upgrades will make a real difference to the comfort, wellbeing and dignity of families and individuals who rely on the Centre every week. This is a terrific example of industry, apprentices, not-for-profits and the community working together to support people doing it tough. I congratulate the International Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Foundation, ADRA and all the partners involved for bringing this project to life.

Federal Treasurer and Member for Rankin
